About PGTI and The PGT
Pilipinas Golf Tournaments Inc. (PGTI), Established in 2009 to advance professional golf in the Philippines, Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc. (PGTI) continues to provide Filipino golfers not only the venue to hone their talent and skills but also keep them at par with the region’s leading shotmakers with an eye at breaking into the world golfing stage in the near future.
Since the PGTI took over the country’s pro golf, there had been encouraging results and positive effects that the Philippine Golf Tour (PGT) – and the Ladies PGT, and the recently-launched regional tour, PGT Asia, for that matter – has had on national golf.
With International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) as chief backer, PGTI hopes to cash in on the gains it had in terms of boosting Philippine golf and providing Filipino pros a circuit that allows them to be substantially rewarded for their hard work and determination, and at the same time earn that chance to get better and better for overseas campaigns.
The Philippine Golf Tour , As the flagship circuit of the Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc., the Philippine Golf Tour holds at least 15 tournaments annually at various championship courses in the country, luring not only the rising stars and living legends of Philippine golf but also a slew of foreign players honing up their respective games for future cracks at the world ranking.
The birth of the region’s newest circuit – the PGT Asia – also means more and more opportunities for these rising and seasoned campaigners – locals and foreigners alike – which only guarantees exciting and thrilling battles for golf supremacy and Order of Merit honors.
In 2013, PGTI also launched the PGT’s counterpart, the Ladies Philippine Golf Tour, which continues its steady rise to recognition with more foreign players joining, while linking up with the region’s leading circuits – the Taiwan and China LPGA.

Riding on the success of the men’s and ladies local tours, Pilipinas Golf Tournaments Inc. launched Asia’s newest pro golf circuit – the PGT Asia – in August 2017 to provide a new, rewarding venue for foreign campaigners to compete in Asia. PGT Asia is a new venue for global shotmakers to hone their games in preparation for other professional tournaments around world.
The men and women behind the rise of Philippine golf as a golfing haven this side of the world have seen the need to further grow the sport here, and the positive feedback from foreign players, particularly on the Filipinos’ acumen in organizing and hosting big-time golf tournaments pave the way for the establishment of the PGTA.
The first five legs of the inaugural season offered a US$100,000 prize fund each. In 2018, a total of US$1.7 million will be staked and in 2019 US$2 million with plans to increase the purse in the future aimed at luring more and more foreign players.
The PGTA, besides serving as a welcome boost to the country’s golf tourism program, is geared towards offering golfers from the Philippines, Asia and other parts of the world another platform on which to play, and at the same time complement each country’s national golf tour and the existing regional circuits.
Plans are underway to hold future legs in other parts of Asia, making the PGTA a key circuit to compete in.
